STEPS TO LICENSURE
Gateway Enrolment
  • Obtaining a candidate number from Pharmacists' Gateway Canada is recommended, but optional. ($325 + tax, if applicable)
Language Proficiency
  • French language proficiency
Academic Qualification and Knowledge Assessment
  • Education equivalency is determined by the Admissions to Practice Committee based on an evaluation of education and previous professional work experience.
  • Successful completion of the PEBC Evaluating ($600) and/or Qualifying Examination($2 250) may be provided to demonstrate partial equivalency.
Bridging Program
  • Additional training at the Université de Montréal may be required if the candidate has achieved "partial equivalence".
  • The full pharmacy program at Université de Montréal or Université Laval is required for candidates whose education is not equivalent. (estimated at between $7,500 and $8,000)
Application to provincial regulator
  • Application for Equivalency Assessment ($530)
  • Application for registration as a pharmacy student ($138)
Structured Practical Training
  • Successful completion of 600 hours Structured Practical Training program (SPT) (Internship)
Jurisprudence
  • Successful completion of the course "Pharmacie: loi et système de soins" (or a course deemed equivalent by l'Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec). This course must be successfully completed before the beginning of the Structured Practical Training in the province. ($675)
Licensure/Registration
  • Initial application for registration with l'Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec (OPQ) ($301)
  • Pharmacist's Licence - Annual Fee ($1043.60)
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
